Is there a demand?

I enjoy (and as part of my job) cranking out new ideas for website or business ideas and i do that all the time. i can easily fall into the thinking mood regardless where i’m: on the bus, in the washroom, chilling out in pub, before falling asleep…

But as much as i like to dream, i always filter these ideas with my inner reality scan by asking one simply question:

Is there a demand? or, can i create a demand on this idea?

My post on soufulow’s blog, squidoo lens, and CafePress pages (yes, all mine!) had monopoly the top 5 spots for Google SERP on Streamyx Sucks Tee.

SERP for streamyx sucks tee

Nice monopoly huh? but it hardly brings me even one visitors! i’m not surprise. come’on, who else are there to search for “Streamyx Sucks Tee”?

This makes a good example in: no demand = no profit, regardless how *revolutionary* you think your idea is.

It’s a norm that we human tends to be biased and tends to think our own idea is good, thinking that our idea can be the next Google or Digg. however, what matters most is that does the majority are into our new idea. before any utopia-talk started, an initial reality check on the demand-supply is a must.

So what were you saying again… a solar-powered torch light? does it really has a demand? :)

Prepare for another ‘DULAN’ year in 2008?

Rumours of another oil price will be increased started right before year 2008 gets in.

While people all around the world are gathering for the new year celebration, part of the malaysians flocked to the petrol station for some cheap fuel before 2007 ends. Petrol price will be raised again in year 2008! yeah, why not? since our gov only promised that fuel price will not be increased in year 2007.

So get a clue people, read what our deputy PM has to say when it comes to oil prices:

Najib: Opposition would bankrupt the country over fuel subsidy

The Deputy Prime Minister said it was “just not possible” for the opposition to bring fuel prices down, pointing out that they were only fooling the people with empty promises…

…“Say, if Petronas makes RM70bil or RM80bil (and) they want to channel it for fuel subsidy. Then where will the government obtain funds for building roads, hospitals and other amenities?” Najib said at the Tuaran Tamu Besar and Cultural Carnival here yesterday…

Read again: Then where will the government obtain funds for building roads, hospitals and other amenities?

Yes that’s right, petronas made lots of money and help gov to build roads and hospitals.

Nah, not you tax payers. our gov is so god damn poor that if not petronas, we might not be able to survive. isnt true? imagine life without roads and basic medical facilities – how can we survive?

Wait wait wait… i thought we’re still paying non stop increasing toll money even there’s petronas; we’re still buying imported car at *amazing* price even there’s petronas; almost every public utilities bill (from telephone to power and water supply to the useless indah water) are increasing even there’s petronas! Probably because our country is so poor thus we as loyal people should help up the country.

But wait again, if Malaysia’s so poor, how come we can have extra RM80 million space tour for Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, RM4.6 billion for Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandals, and millions of RM for over priced accessrories (such as 1,146 ringgit for a set of pens worth 160 ringgit and 5,700 ringgit on a car jack worth 50 ringgit)?

Petronas fundings again? yeah, whatever.

Happy New Year 2008!

HAPPY *DULAN* NEW YEAR 2008!
