‘The world is flat’ is not a statement, it’s a book name instead. It’s a best-selling book written by Thomas L. Friedman analysing the progress of globalization in the 21st century.

In the flat world, you’ll probably get confused with the definition of distance. in the flat world, people interact, in certain level, with each others all the time, regardless of the distance. because of the technologies in the flat world, everyone is well connected. they are given the power to get to anyone in anyplace at anytime, the power to speak freely, the power to unlock their unlimited potential, and everyone owns the power to change the world. there’s no boundaries, nor much limitation.
Sound familiar?
In case you are wondering, yes, we are living in the flat world.
Don’t believe me? look around you… your ipod is designed in United States and assembled in China; you are driving a Japanese’s car that’s assembled in Thailand; your call for credit card support got transfered to a call center located at India; the Starbucks at your neighbourhood uses coffee bean from Indonesia; the Ikea furnitures in your living room is a Swedish brand; your favorite movie Lord of the Ring is a production of Hollywood in the States; your girl friend watches Korean drama; and you surf Taiwanese porn websites for nude Japs chics. anyone from anywhere in this world can put an impact on your life, and you have only minimum control on it. before you even notice, your rice bowl could be in other’s hand… a Chinese from Guang Dong, or an Indian from Bombay, who knows? Competition is steep and it’s coming from everywhere.
Now, the question is: How flat is your world?
Do you stay strong enough to go along with the giant steps of globalization process (or more over, took free ride on it); or, you are living in your own nutshell happily and not aware how fast is the world changing? are you a boring person, outdated, being left behind; or are you well equiped for the challenges that come along with the globalization? these are the questions that relates to your life for the next 25 years. if you are not aware of the flat world syndrom, you better pray hard enough. the bumpy road had just only started.
In case you wonder is your world flat enough? why not take a quick test on it! i hope that’s the least fun you can have with this post, though none of these questions has any relation with your real-life ability. have fun!
