By 'flexible', I mean they add (proper term would be STEAL) words into their dictionary if they see the need to do so. For instance, there wasn't a specific word for 'committed' in the Malay language in the past. But then, Mahatir started using the word 'committed' in several speeches. After quite a number of complaints and disputes, our 'wonderful' Dewan Bahasa inserted the word 'komited' into their dictionary. -_- Extra Note: Malay is probably one of the only languages where it has the most integrated (appropriate term here would be STOLEN) words from other languages.
